ABCya games is a digital buffet of fun and educational games for children ages 3 – 11 designed to teach and hone a variety of key reading, writing, and math skills as well as problem-solving and strategy. The activities can be selected by grade-level from Pre-K to Grade 5 or accessed via search depending on preference. And, users can freely navigate between grade levels to maintain engagement in the app.
This subscription-based app contains over 250 games and activities with new content added monthly. From Equivalent Fractions and Pecking Order (which humbled some of our parent testers) to the Typing Race and XYZ, it would be impossible to describe or even list all the activities in this review. In addition to being educational, most of the games are quite entertaining as well. There are spelling games, word and number bingo, themed word search creators, a sushi slashing game about prime numbers, a game where players pop balloons to learn subtraction, and so forth. There is so much variety in the content: children can write and illustrate their own story one minute and build/label a skeleton the next. There are also strategy themed games such as School Bus Pick Up where players must plan routes to collect children and get them to their destinations. There is a virtual pizzeria where children must observe what customers want and follow proper steps to complete their orders. And, there is a game in which they must determine how to draw lines between matching animals. The app is versatile, the content is vast, age-appropriate, educational, and fun.
