Babybug Magazine

Ages: 0 - 3Publisher: Cricket Media Subscription Price: $ 33.95 for 9 Issues per year

As much soft-cover baby book as magazine, Cricket Media’s sturdy, small-format publication for lap-sitters and their care-giving adults has glossy, non-toxic pages that stand up to wear and invite repeat perusal of their appealing content: a short “Kim and Carrots” story revolving around a toddler and her toy rabbit, nursery rhymes and original poems, get moving activities, stories that reflect toddlers’ discovery of the world around them, and a back cover “seek-and-find” puzzle. A “First Concept” feature introduces such concepts as “low and high,” “empty and full,” “small and big.” Babies and toddlers will identify with the bright mix of photographs and captivating illustrations of racially and ethnically diverse children rendered by skilled artists; and each issue ends with a content-related “Guide for Caregivers” to enrich the experience for both adult and child and encourage later play-and-learn activities.
