Blue’s Clues & You!

Ages: 2 - 5Producer: Nickelodeon Rating: TV Y - All Children

This program is a re-boot of the much-loved children’s series that premiered in 1996.  It’s got the same hybrid of live-action and animated elements, plus puzzles, problems, and songs. Sweet little Blue is back, but she has a new human pal in host Josh.  He utilizes the same device of speaking directly to viewers, and guides them to use logic, observation, social and emotional skills, and preschool-ready skills to solve a problem.

In Meet Josh! Blue won’t proceed with snack time and Josh isn’t sure why.  He checks in with former Blue’s Clues hosts Steve and Joe for advice.  Steve asks viewers to help Josh as he learns how to play Blue’s Clues and solve the problem that will let Josh finally dig into his snacks!

In A Sad Day with Blue, Josh asks viewers to observe Blue’s body language and sounds to figure out how she’s feeling.  Turns out Blue’s mood matches her color, and Josh asks viewers to find and decipher clues to figure out why.

In ABC’s with Blue, Josh asks viewers to help him figure out clues to determine which book Blue wants to read at story time. Expect kids to use lots of early literacy skills to figure out the answer to this puzzle.

Not much is new in this re-boot, but then again, not much needs to be.  The original Blue’s Clues had a winning formula and it’s revived nicely here for 21st century kids.
