CHARMS: A Game of Insight
Charms: Game of Insight has thoughtful questions at its core. How can I best use my talents to help others? Who are my best allies? How can I be more resilient? Designed for three to eight players ages 12+, the game includes a sturdy game board, instructions, 50 charms cards with 200 questions, 25 charms (dice, wooden shapes, and gems), eight quick reference key cards, eight pencils, one pad of paper, one charms bag, and one sand timer. Games run from 30 – 90 minutes.
The first player, the Quester, draws a card from the deck and reads it aloud: this is the Quest. He/she then selects nine charms from the bag and casts them onto the board. The charms represent a variety of characteristics/traits such as courage, honesty, love, knowledge, health/illness, seasons, and so forth. Players get two minutes to answer the question based on the charms and where they landed on the board (e.g., me, family, community, the world, etc.). The Quester reads the responses and chooses his/her favorite; the winner gets to keep the card and the player with the most cards at the end of the game wins.
Because the game questions and parameters are never the same (not to mention the players themselves), the game itself is never the same. And, with little adjustment, players of a wide variety of age and ability levels can participate.
