Come Together; Little Songs for Little Scholars
This album would be a treat for music time in pre-K play groups and kindergarten classrooms. Jeanie B’s warm, clear, melodic soprano and expressive guitar, accompanied by other fine acoustic musicians, extend an irresistible invitation to young children to play, sing, and imagine along to original songs crafted with deceptive simplicity. Among the 28 tracks: “Mary Had a Little Farm” (“where animals liked to sing”), “5 Pieces of Bubble Gum,” a subtraction song; “Read a Book,” featuring an enthusiastic kids’ chorus; “Clap Up High,” with a drum beat; and Canadian folksinger Connie Kaldor’s evocative “Seed in the Ground.”
