Confucius: Great Teacher of China
In this illustrated biography of Confucius, Demi introduces the teachings and philosophy via pictures done in mixed-media with watercolor wash and gold overlay, on pages that have the appearance of rice paper. Particularly lovely are Demi’s dancing cranes and mythical ?gures; characteristically small on a wide backdrop.
The text conveys that Confucius was not unlike other great educators, throughout the centuries. His lessons were vibrant and versatile, which is exactly what the illustrations depict. Art, music, archery (P.E.), and language were all recommended. Although the book is about Confucius, it is also a tribute to all good teachers.
