Curious: Think Outside the Pipeline!
There’s nothing subtle about this educational and inspirational audio-play, but the girl-centric messages are appealingly delivered by the voice cast as a girl’s curiosity about the world leads her to research why so many people in her new town, including her sibling, are suffering from respiratory illnesses. Her discovery that an oil refinery is the culprit brings a non-response from local politicians, “mansplaining” from her well-meaning uncle, and patronization from those who feel girls should be decorative and sweet—all overcome by the girl’s informed opinions about alternative fuel sources, her galvanization of others to join the cause, and her determination to speak for herself.
