From the producers of the long-running PBS show Cyberchase comes a free, supplemental PBS Kids website. The Cyberchase website, aimed at elementary-aged users, encourages kids to explore math and science topics through games, videos, and activities. The site hosts the full contingent of eleven seasons of Cyberchase episodes, focusing on the animated adventures of three human kids who enter the cyberspace world to help the good Mother Board and her friends fend off attacks from the classic evil villain, Hacker. The kids must use math and learn about engineering and the environment to keep the cyber-world safe.
The interactive games on the site allow users to practice addition (up to 20), utilize different types of green energy sources, practice estimating large sums, consider symmetry, and more. The games are of slightly uneven quality; Railway Hero and Watts of Trouble, for example, are fast-paced and fun for kids, while also providing options for beginners to get up to speed, but Glowla’s Estimation Contraption can feel more like homework practice. Nevertheless, there are more than enough options to keep kids interested and learning.
The many website activities offer printables and science projects to get kids away from their computers and interacting with family and friends or exploring on their own the world around them. Rest assured this website is safe, fun, and educational.
