From the creatively informative “D 4 Darwin … it’s all about EVOLUTION” inside cover (although many species have changed or transformed, sharks haven’t changed much in a 100 million years or Crocodiles in 200 million years) to the theme related quiz on the back cover, readers can’t help but turn the pages in between.
Featuring Sharks and Dolphins, A Journey into Space, or Tutankhamun, each ~48 page Discovery Box magazine is a learning adventure in history, science, nature and more. For example, in an issue devoted to the human body, readers learn what happens when we eat and when we sleep; a marvelous section shows what a “great machine” our body is, the history of vaccines and how they protect us. Moving from human bodies to animals, a multi-page section is filled with photos and facts (a lizard that can run on the water, chameleons’ eyes move separately making their field of vision 360°, and baby axolotls (a frog cousin) never metamorphose into adults.)
If that learning isn’t fun-enough – there’s an entire section called Fun Facts that covers items from addictive screens, the temperature of lightning (it can be as hot as 30,000 C/ 54,032 F), Earth’s gravitational pull, and the mystery of the order of our alphabet. There are eco-friendly activities (make a wall of flowers from recycled plastic), games and mazes – all which relate to the issue’s theme.
While the formula itself may not be new, this illuminating well-designed magazine will be read, re-read, and talked about – by curious young readers and the people around them.
