Folkmanis® Ladybug Life Cycle
The intricate design of this clever reversible puppet contains independent segments that showcase the life cycle of ladybugs. With some initial practice, children can learn how to unzip the pockets that encase these progressive stages that range from the initial egg to the larva to the fully developed adult insect. Both the larva and adult sections have glove-like cavities for a potential six-leg manipulation. Two diaphanous wings are shielded by the iconic red and black leathery-looking elytra. For these wings to be seen and/or flutter, there are concealed magnetic snaps in the tips of the elytra that allow their two mirrored sections to separate, thus revealing the hidden wings.
An abundance of related books can boost scientific study of these insects and the enjoyment of related stories, such as Eric Carle’s well-known The Grouchy Ladybug.
