Fred’s Big Feelings
Children’s author Laura Renauld offers children and adults a clearly heartfelt telling of the childhood experiences that formed Fred Rogers’ empathy for others and how he found his calling as beloved icon Mister Rogers, champion of children everywhere. Renauld’s well-researched narrative touches on Fred’s childhood, his music, and his commitment to making children’s television a safe and meaningful place where its audience could learn ways to cope with their feelings and know that they were special just the way they were. Renauld writes, too, about how Rogers’ legacy continues. The colorful, cartoon-style illustrations are deftly rendered by artist/designer Brigette Barrager.
