Goodness Shapes is a charming app to help young children learn about shapes and colors. The characters are sweet and appealing yet not at all cloying. The activities are easy to learn, fun to play and new each time through.
The app can be played in two ways – straight through all 12 activities, or as individual games. From matching the shapes with outlines, finding the shape that fits the car, or loading a cargo boat, there are a variety of ways to practice matching and sorting shapes and colors. The sound effects are low-key and natural, and the voiceover is mellow – no crazy character voices or over-the-top sound effects to overstimulate young player-learners. The only downside is younger testers may have difficulty at first moving the shapes around, particularly on phones, due to their small size. But that didn’t deter our young testers from returning to this app many times over.
