Kids’ Choice Awards 2019
Nickelodeon celebrated the 32nd annual Kids’ Choice Awards 2019 on March 23, 2019, and this special includes high-energy performances plus a bevy of celebs walking the Orange Carpet and handing out awards.
DJ Khaled, Annie LeBlanc, and Jayden Bartels share hosting duties, singing, dancing, and ramping up the energy level in a room already bursting with pyrotechnics, confetti canons, and Nickelodeon’s much-loved green slime. The competition is fun and fierce in categories that include Favorite Butt-kicker, Favorite Social Star, and favorite actors and performers from the television, film, and music worlds.
Celebrities accept their awards with speeches filled with sincere thanks and inspiring advice; presenters run obstacle courses to get to the stage; and viewers get in on a live vote to determine the winner of a dance battle between DJ Khaled and Dance Moms alum Jojo Siwa. The program also includes performances from Ally Brooke; a medley from Migos; and DJ Khaled performing All I Do is Win along with a brief but rousing mash-up with Queen’s We Will Rock You. It heads towards the finish line with the cast of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical, singing “Best Day Ever” before the final big awards of the night are announced.
It’s optimistic, it’s silly, it’s sweet, and it’s upbeat. Viewers are left with the impression that this is not just a celebration of the talented celebrities who create media for kids but also a genuine celebration of, and appreciation for, the kid-viewers themselves.
