Kind News magazine
Kind News? magazine’s goal is to help children understand how important it is to be kind to animals, and to people too. Via stories, facts, questions and games, the eight-page publication’s message is clear: the bond between humans and animals is important; empathy for others enriches the lives of both. Offered in two different versions, Kind News Jr. (K-2) and Kind News (3-6), each of five themed issues per year includes a Parent Guide to help extend the learning. Although not all content will be new to all readers, this reviewer was delighted (and of course dismayed) to read about the Washed Ashore Project in the 2018 May/June issue. For classrooms and/or parents seeking affordable and relatable ways to teach empathy, Kind News demonstrates the practice of learning to care for and about others.
