Listen. Love. Repeat.

Again Again is a new band that pairs together singers/songwriters/musicians/parents Anne Montone and Jennifer Cook. Their debut album borrows its title from author Karen Ehman’s Bible studies book, but this is not a religious album, but one that extols the simple joys of living. The album begins with the clapping rhythm of “ABCs in Spanish and English” before delving into the lite stadium rock of “The Kids Are Here (First Day of School).” Diversity is celebrated in the acoustic folk of “Families Come in Blended Ways,” while the duo switches to a funky beat for the “Get Dressed March,” and showtune style pop for the nonsensical “Bubble Gum and Cheese.” The percussive “Wrap Your Arms Around Your Family” celebrates the many forms families come in, “Be Well” is a gentle healing song, and “Dinosaur Party” is a jazzy tale of Mesozoic merriment. “Helping Hand” recalls the breezy pop of the Lovin’ Spoonful for a song about being of service, and the album closes with the piano-led, nature-loving lullaby of “Camping Song.”  Montone and Cook’s voices harmonize and blend well together, and they show welcomed influences of bands such as The Bangles and The Ronettes. This short and fun little album is an ambitious debut, with hopefully more to come from this entertaining new duo.
