Designed to teach English as a second language, Little Fox is a subscription-based website that provides reading material and enrichment resources for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.) The stories, which are divided into nine reading levels, can be sorted by up to 25 categories (e.g., classics, fairy tales, ABC, and so forth) Once a story is selected, children can watch the animated story video, listen to the book narrated to them, or read the book independently. Additionally, each story comes with resources/features: a quiz, downloadable MP3, printable book, and text reading.
Enrichment games and activities can give learners a break from reading while still honing important skills. There are crossword puzzles, memory matching games, coloring pages, typing games, phonics games, and much, much more. New materials are added regularly so children remain engaged and do not get bored.
The learning log allows parents to track their children’s progress by views, learning points, learning time. The data gathered can be filtered, charted, and graphed to get an accurate snapshot of each child’s current level. The log helps determine which stories are favorites, what topics are preferred, and what reading level a child has reached.
This website provides quality, easily accessible, ability-appropriate content that is regularly updated so that children continue to be engaged over time. The only drawback of the Little Fox website is the high cost; subscription levels are available at $25/month, $60/3 months, $115/6 months, or $180/year.
