Lucky Dog with Brandon McMillan

Ages: 13 - 16Producer: Litton Entertainment Rating: TV G - General Audience

Animal trainer and author Brandon McMillan hosts Lucky Dog, a reality/documentary series in which McMillan’s mission is to take shelter dogs and help them overcome challenges so they can join their forever family.

In one episode, McMillan takes on the case of a deaf and nearly blind shelter dog named Sapphire. It takes patience and a whole new approach to training to help Sapphire navigate the world and interact with people.  As if that doesn’t pack enough of an emotional punch, the episode also features therapy dogs who help children in the foster care system.

In another episode, what do you do with a Dachshund that has a furniture chewing habit?  Not only does McMillan help Tubbs curb some over-exuberant tendencies, he also finds a hobby that makes the most of this happy little dog’s constantly wagging tail:  Tubbs learns how to beat a drum in a band that helps veterans coping with post-traumatic stress disorder. And, Lizzie the terrier goes from a tough life on the streets to an exciting life riding the waves with a family who loves watersports. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to boat-train a dog, McMillan has the answers!

Each episode focuses not only on the patience it takes to train a dog, but also how a dog’s needs and personality fit in with a human’s needs and personality.  The result is a heartwarming tale of a lucky dog that ends up with an equally lucky family.
