If you’re ready to put a toe or two into the augmented reality seas, the Merge Cube (and its companion apps) is a fun and affordable way to start.
You will need an email address and activation code to download and use the apps. Some of the games are free, but others cost about $1.99. One of our free favorites is Dig! and if your kids are fans of Minecraft, then they will most likely enjoy this building game as well. Tilt Ball challenges players to manipulate a ball over and under obstacles on all six sides of the cube. And, Cube Paint AR allows children to color, record, and share three different animated animals. And yes, there’s a Rubik’s cube app There are also some really interesting educational apps such that focus on scientific topics such as anatomy and astronomy. There’s definitely no shortage of free games and videos to try. And, there’s just something really engaging about holding and manipulating a hologram.
