Middle School Moguls
This animated series for tweens follows the adventures of friends at Mogul Academy, where aspiring entrepreneurs learn the business of starting a business.
Scripts are peppered with business terms, and plotlines generally show one of the teen moguls relying on her passion to power through a problem. In Mogulize, and a Side of Fries, Winnie dreams of starting a pie bakery for pets, but her parents expect her to follow in the family tradition of studying medicine. She figures out a way to blend her family’s history with her own unique career dreams.
In Mo’Gul Money, Mo Problems, Yuna gears up for Mogul Academy Fashion Week but the competition is high and her budget is low. “Up-cycling” is the answer to making great fashion while keeping waste at a minimum.
Casting includes 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist Laurie Hernandez as the voice of aspiring entrepreneur Valeria; and Jade Pennyjohn, from the Nickolodeon series School of Rock, voices Celeste. Parents with a keen ear may recognize the voice talents of Project Runway star Tim Gunn as the school’s fashion instructor.
Budding kid bosses are likely to enjoy this celebration of smart girls who exhibit the skills, vision, and persistence it takes to transform big dreams into career goals. All viewers will benefit from the invaluable lesson: failure is how we learn; it’s a necessary step on the road to success.
