Oh Baby! with Anji Corley
Host Anji Corley promises that “Oh, Baby!” will introduce viewers to “the cutest, most curious, most captivating baby animals you’ve ever seen.” And this half-hour documentary-style program does just that.
See how baby chimps behave – or, perhaps it is more accurate to say how they misbehave. Another segment explains how baby Asian elephants use their trunks to communicate. Camouflage is discussed in a sequence featuring everything from glass frogs to snakes, leopards, and an infant colugo (a.k.a. a flying lemur), which seems to be all eyes as it peers out from beneath its mother’s protective wings.
Another episode explores different types of forests around the world, with a look at Australia’s baby koalas as they graze at the top of eucalyptus trees. Later, a badger mom teaches her cubs to forage for food; and wild boar piglets use their exceptional sense of smell to root out tasty treats. See stunning young foals running alongside their mothers shortly after birth; and, learn about the peeps and squeaks of baby finches as they send messages to their moms at mealtime.
According to the show’s credits, much of the video content is from stock footage sites, but it’s well-curated and backed up by easy-to-understand narration supplemented by pop-up text on the screen. If you have animal lovers in your home and want to see how wildlife lives and learns in its earliest moments, Oh, Baby! is educational and entertaining family viewing.
