Pete the Cat Halloween Special
Based on the Pete the Cat children’s book series, the animated series brings its “chillax” vibe to the small screen.
In Pete the Cat‘s Halloween-themed special, familiar activities lead to frightful adventures, and even a few fun ideas viewers can try at home. In “Pumpkin Pageant Pandemonium”, Pete is preparing for a jack-o-lantern contest but needs to explore creative carving alternatives when his pumpkin breaks. And, in “Trick-or-Treating Ghost”, the gang decides to visit a neighbor’s Backyard of Terror display. There, they close their eyes and stick their hands into bowls of “monster eyeballs” (grapes) and “monster guts” (cold spaghetti noodles). Ultimately, the kids learn Halloween things aren’t so scary when they take a closer look and understand them.
Jacob Tremblay is Pete; Singer/songwriter Elvis Costello voices Pete’s dad; Grammy-award winning jazz vocalist Diana Krall and Costello’s real-life wife is Pete’s mom; and musician and record producer Don Was plays Pete’s guitar teacher, Neville.
Pete the Cat has a distinct vibe that may not appeal to everyone, but for viewers who do sway with the beat, lessons about friendship and problem-solving are dished up in an easy, enjoyable way.
