THE BOGGART FIGHTS BACK
Ten-year-old Canadian twins Allie and Jay are visiting their Scottish grandfather, Angus Cameron, on the coast of Loch Linnhe for the first time in five years. Eager to see the seals on the Seal Rocks again, the children ask Portia, Granda’s helper, to detour their boat by the rocks, and Allie persuades Jay to sing a Scottish ballad hoping that the seals will come to listen. But the boggarts, the mischievous shape shifters, are listening too.
Meanwhile, an unscrupulous American developer, Mr. Trout, has bought up land adjacent to Granda’s and is planning a grandiose development. Granda, not only won’t sell his property but opposes him publicly at every turn. Mr. Trout becomes incensed and sets the development quickly in motion. The Boggarts realize the family needs their help in stopping Trout’s schemes.
Once again, master storyteller Susan Cooper delivers adventure, fun, humor and a wholly satisfying ending.
