The Second Sky
The tiny penguin Gilbert peeps through a hole he has pecked in his shell and sees the moon, the stars, the wheeling birds, and knows at that moment that he wants fly. Although he cannot, Gilbert never gives up his dream of soaring through the sky like the beautiful albatross. Observing that the albatross glides and doesn’t flap his wings as Gilbert has been trying, our hero climbs up a mountain, jumps off and tries to soar. He inevitably falls into the sea – and finds his true element.
Children desire stories with which they can identify and Gilbert’s story about a small but determined character will satisfy
that longing. With a blue palette, a precious hero and lovely illustrations, this book will be treasured by its intended audience.
