The Story Store

Ages: 6 - 9Producer: CBC

The title is the concept. And how very fun it is! Developed and produced by CBC Kids, children from across Canada submit “orders” to the Story Store and a troupe of gifted and fun-loving performers transforms them into fully produced “ear books” introduced by Story Store manager Mr. Orlando the Moose and his assistant Gary the Unicorn.

Punctuated with smart and delightful wordplay, a rich sound library, and non-stop voice talent, the stories run from short bursts of four minutes to some as long as 30. But short does not be skimpy. These tall tales chronicle bees having tea parties, irregular shapes, gorillas in space, and whatever imaginative requests strikes a fancy. These digital shelves are filled with custom orders just waiting to be shared.

We’re not sure if U.S. kids can place an order with The Story Store, but let’s give it a try. Call 1-888-413-2781 (it’s toll free in North America) or email thestorystore@cbc.ca.
