Wild Is Everywhere by Sara Lovell
Pop artist Sara Lovell’s gorgeous, inventive second family CD proves that her delightful debut in the genre, “You’ve Got Me,” was no fluke. Magic happens in this CD, from the stunning first track, “Get Up,” a vivid look at a day in the life of a small town through the eyes of an observer traveling through the sky on “the tail of a kite” to the last (the title track), urging listeners to see the wild wonders in their world, from the stars at night to a beetle, shimmering “like a jewel” on the windowsill. Lovell pairs vocal and instrumental sophistication—influenced by blues, jazz, the “Sgt. Pepper”-era Beatles and other genres—with imagination-stirring flights of fancy that are by turns comical (“Rhinoceros Under the Bed”), suspenseful (“The Dark Side of My Room”) and lullaby dreamy (“Pie in the Sky” [“There’s a moon floating by/with a girl on it waving hello . “]).
