Xploration DIY Sci
Steve Spangler, YouTube star and a classroom science teacher, promises to reveal how to “harness the power of science in your own home with DIY Sci[ence].”
Sure, we’ve all tried the thing where we put Mentos mints inside a cola bottle to make a geyser, but what’s happening in Xploration DIY SciM/i> makes that experiment look like child’s play. Spangler presents science experiments kids and families can replicate at home. Parents, make it a prerequisite that the kids have to help clean up afterwards because these experiments are more than mind-blowing; they’re exhilarating but they’re also [delightfully] messy.
Spangler’s featured experiments have a “wow factor.” Viewers learn how to set bubbles on fire, which chemical reactions make liquids turn different colors, and how to create an enormous smoke-filled bubble. Make Halloween pumpkins glow in the dark, make a 55-gallon steel drum implode and even discover how to build a hovercraft. And not only does Spangler demonstrate how to conduct the experiment, he explains the science concept behind it; and, because he’s a teacher, he manages to do so concisely, clearly and safely. Oh, and with genuine and contagious enthusiasm.
Xploration DIY Sci is hands-on (and hands down) fun with an undeniable educational impact.
